Hidden Details: Chamfer, Height Tolerance & Vulcanization Process Define BOCHENG Bushing Durability

The Land-Rover L405 strut features a special assembly layout. The bushing bottoms against the housing and is axially locked by a circlip on top. Extremely tight height tolerances are required for this assembly. Besides, the chamfer geometry directly determines whether the sealing O-ring will be sheared during installation.

Validated by abundant field tests, BOCHENG bushing adopts a uniform 15° chamfer with 2 mm width. During inward installation, it effectively shields the outer sealing O-ring from cutting damage and prevents hidden air-leak risks caused by assembly.

In original OE assembly, both bushing and CNC-machined aluminum end fitting hold precise height dimensions to keep clearance within acceptable range, without extra rubber compensation. Many aftermarket replacements suffer large height deviation, which leads to common failures: difficult circlip fitting, circlip popping-out under load, excessive bushing play and heavy knocking noise while driving.

BOCHENG products maintain excellent dimensional stability via strict height-tolerance control, ensuring secure circlip seating and eliminating rattling caused by clearance.

Beyond geometry and dimension, vulcanization technology also plays a core role. Two mainstream rubber-making methods are compression molding and high-pressure injection. Our L405 bushing from BOCHENG uses high-pressure injection vulcanization: heated rubber is injected into molds under high pressure. Compared with conventional compression molding, it produces denser, more compact rubber and superior part-to-part consistency, which is the preferred manufacturing process for precision suspension rubber components.

A reliable suspension bushing is more than its outer appearance. Protective chamfer, stable tolerance and premium vulcanization are the fundamental guarantee for long-term stable performance of BOCHENG products.
